DB Client OS Configuration - Unix/Linux

Choose a Userid
You will need to choose the UX userid that DBAmon will use.
Some considerations:
- Informix: You should use informix. If you don't, then backup age checking will not work. This is because DBAmon read the Informix reserved pages which can only be done as user informix. DBAmon for Informix does not change anything in the DB, so consider it safe to use informix.
- Oracle: You should use oracle or some other ID in group: dba. DBAmon for Oracle can, at your request, fix some DB problems. For example, it can ALTER TABLE|INDEX OWNER.NAME STORAGE ( MAXEXTENTS UNLIMITED ). This is done with svrmgrl which requires that the user id group=dba to connect internal.
Establish .rhosts Connectivity
You will have to establish either .rhosts or SSH connectivity to allow DBAmon running on the DBamon Master Server to connect to this DB on this server without specifying a password. SSH connectivity was first introduced with DBAmon Version 3.23F (08/00). SSH is used in a higher security environment, such as going through a network firewall.

Check /tmp
DBAmon downloads software to every DB Server that it monitors. It is place in /tmp, so ensure that /tmp has at least, say, 1MB of free space.

Perl
Perl, at least version 5, must be installed and there must be a symbolic link called

/usr/local/bin/perl which invokes Perl version 5 or higher.

Informix Version 5
If you will be monitoring Informix Version 5, you need to create a link called onstat to the tbstat execuable.
